We were over at a friend’s house for dinner the other night.
After the meal (we had fajitas, in case you’re wondering), we talked about things we should do together.
“Let’s go to Mexico again!” (we’ve already been twice with them).
“We should meet you guys at your Montana house next summer to escape the sweltering Arizona heat,” I said.
“How about spending a few nights in Sedona?” Sedona is one of the most gorgeous places on the face of the planet, by the way.
The best-made plans are over dinner and margaritas, right???
But here’s the magic in what happened that night. As we chatted, I never had to think about if my boss will let me go.
Or if I have enough vacation hours left.
Or whether I should bring my laptop in case of a work emergency.
Work wasn’t a part of the equation. It never is anymore.
And that’s the beauty of becoming a millionaire.
The money is great, but being a millionaire isn’t really about the money, is it? No, it’s much more fundamental than that. More visceral.
Being a millionaire is about waking up without an alarm clock, listening to the birds chirp and watching the sun rise – all 100% on your schedule.
Every dollar you earn brings you that much closer to more choices.
Having more choices is what makes us free.
