Try Underthinking

Thinking too much is worse than not thinking enough.

With few exceptions, overthinking is more harmful to our potential. It’s a mental barrier we put between ourselves and what we want to achieve. When we overthink, we think about things that can go wrong.

And it’s this overthinking that can prevent us from even trying.

What do we do when we overthink? We ask ourselves questions like:

  • what if I fail?
  • what if I get hurt?
  • what if they don’t like me?
  • what if something goes wrong?

These bullshit “what ifs” stem directly from overthinking. And they plant the devastating idea of doubt in our minds. It’s that mental barrier.

And many times, we don’t even try. Or, at the very least, don’t try as hard as we could.

Overthinking prevented me from starting several small businesses. It even stopped me from charging for my own work. What if they don’t like it? What if they sue me? What if…

When we overthink, we concoct reasons to fail.

But when we just do, things happen. We make mistakes and learn from them. Underthinking lets us be kids again, just trying shit and seeing what happens.

If we succeed, great! If we fail, we get up and try again.

Adulting isn’t about coming up with reasons not to try.

It’s about putting ourselves out there and making an impact.

Want to succeed beyond your wildest imagination in 2023?
