My wife and I live full-time in an Airstream named Charlie. He is 30 feet long. We have no traditional “sticks and bricks” home. Charlie IS our home, 100% of the time. And, we love it.
Charlie enables us to travel the country in relative luxury. During our pursuit of early retirement, our needs shrank. We no longer wanted the expense and maintenance of a stationary house. Instead, our dream was to live a nomadic lifestyle traveling the country. We follow the weather by spending summers in the north and winters down south.
We bought Charlie in March of 2016 and officially moved in April 1st. We sold both of our homes and downsized the majority of our possessions. We kept only those items important to us.
I worked full-time for an Information Technology company from the Airstream through the end of 2016, when I retired. After moving into Charlie, we called the Tucson KOA (Kampgrounds of America) home for the next year. Our goal is to set sail after my wife retires April 1st, 2017.
